I Walk by Faith, Not by Sight.

In June of 2001 my eyesight became legally blind within a matter of days.  My life was brought to a standstill.  I had so many questions that I sought answers for.  It was at this point in my journey that I took a deeper look inside.  With the world as I once perceived it crumbling before me the only thing that kept me going was my faith and hope in God.  God was challenging me to walk by faith and not by sight.  In the midst of feeling confused and finding difficulty making my way, I clung on to the hope that I have in God.

It is in this hope that I began writing songs.  I truly believe that music comes from one’s soul and thereby speaks to others at their deepest level.  Music has helped me see beyond the challenges that I have and still face.

For example, in the song, “Don’t Give Up,” it states: “If your life is tossed by the crashing waves, the Lord will comfort you with His love and grace.”  When I became legally blind, I felt like I was being tossed back and forth by crashing waves.  The only way I could move forward was by trusting in God’s love and grace.

Music has helped me to reach into the painful times and find hope buried deep inside.  It is this message of hope that is the driving force behind the music of which I write and perform.  I know that each person’s trials are different in nature, but there is a commonality in all of us, and that is each one’s search for hope and purpose in one’s life.

My hope is that through music, I will encourage others to persevere and realize that they are not alone.  If someone was to ask me where I saw myself going in the next two years, my reply would be that each day I take a step of faith and use music to instil a sense of meaning and belonging into people’s lives.  Through my music, I want to invite others to journey with me as I continue to discover the vastness and richness of God’s hope, peace, and love.

God Bless,
